Directories
We’ve compiled a list of directories to help you connect to other organizations, find resources, and join groups that are supportive of young women. This is an ongoing process and we will be updating our directories as we meet new people and find new links that fit into each category. You can contribute links you find relevant by submitting them using the comment box. Here are our current directories and some definitions of the terms we use:
An initiative that is young women-led is one in which young women represent the majority of all people who decide ‘what’ gets done by the initiative and ‘how’ it gets done. Young women are women that are between 16 and 30 years old. Young women-led does not necessarily mean “no involvement or role by other age groups or young men” in the initiative. Older members and young men may also be involved in this initiative in a supportive role to young women who are the main decision-makers.
Some organizations where young women are not the majority of the decision-makers have programs that are designed to address young women’s issues, recruit young women, or allow a space for some autonomous self-organizing.
A collection of blogs, online magazines, e-books, e-communities, forums, video channels, social networking groups, and other useful links of young women organizing or publishing online.
